Framing

We're not asking whether one twin really ages less. Flown atomic clocks settled that in 1971. We're asking why, and sitting with what it means that time isn't shared.

If a moving clock ticks slow, who actually ages less, and why isn't it symmetric?

The precise version (Watch)

The twin paradox illustrates special relativistic time dilation through asymmetric aging. One twin (the traveler) departs at high velocity, reaches a distant point, decelerates, and returns. The stay-at-home twin ages more. At v = 0.8c, γ = 5/3 ≈ 1.667. For every 5 years the traveler experiences, the stay-at-home twin ages approximately 8.3 years. The paradox is resolved by the asymmetry. The traveling twin undergoes acceleration (changing inertial frames at turnaround) while the stay-at-home twin does not. In the Minkowski diagram, the traveler's worldline is shorter in spacetime length (shorter proper time arc), which corresponds to less elapsed proper time despite covering more coordinate distance.

If it wobbles

Confidently wrong — Don't argue with 'it must cancel by symmetry.' Grant the instinct. 'Right, motion is relative. So what's different about the two twins? One of them felt the turnaround.'
Dead silence — Anchor it. 'We literally flew clocks around the world in 1971 and they disagreed on return, exactly as predicted. Start there. What's your first question?'
Runaway debate — Pull back to the still. 'Hold it there. Let's look at the two worldlines drawn out before we argue about the cause.'
